Dehradun, 18 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the entire team of the Garhwali film ‘Dholi’ on the film being honoured with the prestigious Rajat Kamal Award and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs as the Best Garhwali Film in the Feature Film category at the 72nd National Film Awards.
Congratulating the film’s producer SC Pharmachem Private Limited, director Dinesh P Bhonsle and the entire film unit on the achievement, CM Dhami said that the national recognition accorded to ‘Dholi’ is an honour for Uttarakhand’s rich folk language, folk culture and cultural heritage. He said the achievement is an inspiration for the state’s film industry, artists and creative professionals and would provide a new identity and impetus to Garhwali cinema.

Dhami also noted that regional cinema has an important role to play in taking the folk culture and traditions of Uttarakhand to the country and the world in an effective manner. He said the State Government is making continuous efforts to develop Uttarakhand as a destination conducive to film production. Film production is being promoted in the state through the new film policy, which is creating new opportunities for local artists, technicians and the youth.
It may be recalled that the shooting of ‘Dholi’ was carried out in September 2023 in Nald village in the Asi Ganga Valley of Uttarkashi district and adjoining areas. The film has brought together a team of experienced technicians and artists as well as local talent from Uttarakhand. Notably, the music of the film has been composed by leading Garhwali poet, composer and singer Narendra Singh Negi.
The film has been produced by Sunil Nayak and SC Pharmachem Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, while the screenplay and direction have been handled by Dinesh Bhonsle. Shishir Krishna Sharma is associated with the film for story development, Hindi dialogues and as executive producer. The original story was written by Dr Nandkishor Hatwal, who also translated the dialogues from Hindi into Garhwali.
Abhinav Gandharva is the Director of Photography, with Sheikh Kaiser as Associate Director of Photography. The music for the film has been composed by Narendra Singh Negi. Virendra Gharse has handled the editing and is also the co-director. Atul Vishnoi is the art director, while Gayatri Tamta has handled the costumes and Pooja Bhandari the make-up. Rajesh Karekar has been associated with the film for production management.
The cast includes Mohit Ghildiyal, Deepa Deupa, Ramesh Naudiyal, Satish Dhaulakhandi, Sonia Gairola, Neeraj Negi, Atul Rawat, Sushil Purohit, Dheeraj Rawat, Jaspal Rana, Anand Rana, Sanjay Badoni, Sunil Singh, Tanmay Lohani, Master Rishabh, Anil Jakhmola, Tanuj Sharma, Prem Hindwal and Pankaj Dangwal, besides artists from Uttarkashi.
