Gov awards scholarships to students at ‘Path Pradarshak’ Event

Dehradun, 4 Sep:  Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), today, awarded scholarships to the top-performing students of high school and intermediate levels, as well as to meritorious students from various institutions, during the “Path Pradarshak” programme held at the Raj Bhawan, here. Additionally, financial assistance was provided to social and educational institutions during the event.

The “Path Pradarshak” programme, initiated by Gen Singh in 2022, offers scholarships to outstanding students from the Governor’s discretionary fund. Today, scholarships totalling Rs 5,75,000 were awarded to 9 meritorious students. The Governor also granted Rs 20 lakh in financial assistance to 19 social and educational institutions across the state for their social work and educational advancement.

In his address, the Governor wished all the meritorious students a bright future and stated that the “Path Pradarshak” programme aims to nurture, polish, and motivate the state’s talents. He emphasised that scholarships are being provided to encourage students who wish to study but face obstacles. He noted that, in the era of Amrit Kaal, the responsibility of advancing the country lies on the shoulders of the youth.

Lt Gen Singh remarked that financial constraints should not hinder children’s goals. He encouraged students to view their struggles and those of their parents as opportunities for growth, akin to how gold is refined through fire. He urged them to become pathfinders for other children and highlighted that today’s achievements are a result of the youth’s immense enthusiasm, high spirits, and determination.

During the event, the Governor praised various social and educational institutions for their selfless efforts and contributions to public welfare. He expressed hope that these institutions will engage more extensively in social work in the future. The children from The Learning Tree School performed charming presentations, which were appreciated by the Governor and all attendees.

The programme was attended by Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Swati S Bhadauria, Deputy Secretary Gajendra Datt Naudiyaal, Finance Controller Dr Tripti Srivastava, as well as officials, staff of Raj Bhavan, and students from various schools.
