Kotdwar, 4 Sep: Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan today felicitated women’s self-help groups and distributed financial assistance during a conference held in the municipal hall, here.
On this occasion, she reaffirmed her commitment to the empowerment of women in the state and praised the steps taken towards their self-reliance.
In the ceremony, the Speaker honoured 119 self-help groups and distributed cheques of financial assistance.
In her address, Ritu Khanduri said, “Women in self-help groups are the backbone of society. Their hard work and dedication have not only improved their own families’ situations but also served as an inspiration to other sections of society. Through these groups, women are not only strengthening their economic status but also playing a significant role in society.”
Khanduri added, “Our state’s women are taking important steps towards becoming self-reliant. Through ‘self-help groups’, they have not only strengthened their families’ economic conditions but have also provided new direction to society.” She also mentioned that the Uttarakhand government is running several schemes for women’s welfare, enabling them to play a stronger role in society. These schemes provide women with financial assistance, education, and opportunities for self-reliance.
During the event, women shared their experiences and expressed gratitude to the Speaker for the support. They mentioned that the financial assistance would greatly aid them in starting businesses and improving their livelihoods. The distribution programme was organised to promote women’s entrepreneurship and make their contributions to society more impactful.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Speaker expressed hope that the success of these groups would inspire other women and prove to be a positive step towards self-reliance.
