Kashipur, 16 Jun: As per his scheduled programme, Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) reached Kashipur, today. Upon arrival, the Governor paid obeisance at the Nankana Sahib Gurudwara and prayed for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the state. He also inspected the Sarovar located within the Gurudwara premises.
Subsequently, the Governor held a review meeting with officials at the Kashipur Mandi Guest House. He appreciated the development works being carried out by the district administration and the implementation of development-centric schemes of the Government of India, congratulating the officials for their efforts. On this occasion, he felicitated Chief Development Officer (CDO) Manish Kumar with a certificate of appreciation and a memento for exemplary practices in electoral management.
District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria informed the Governor that Udham Singh Nagar district ranked first in the state under the Twenty Point Programme during the last financial year. The Governor congratulated the entire district team for this achievement. Through a PowerPoint presentation, the DM provided detailed progress updates on various central and state government welfare schemes.
Regarding the Jal Jeevan Mission, the DM reported that 94% of the work has been completed, with the remaining 6% nearing completion. He mentioned that all Anganwadi centres in the district have been provided with water connections under the mission. In light of depleting groundwater levels, the district has prohibited paddy cultivation during the summer to conserve water.
The DM also informed the Governor that encroachments on government land have been identified and are being removed through dedicated drives. He added that campaigns to curb drug abuse and cybercrime have been launched, leading to the arrest and prosecution of several offenders.
He presented comprehensive updates on flagship schemes of the Government of India, including: PM Jan Man Yojana; Ayushman Bharat (PM Jan Arogya Yojana); Mission Indradhanush; PM Matru Vandana Yojana; PM Kisan Samman Nidhi; PM SVANidhi; PM Vishwakarma Yojana; Lakhpati Didi Yojana; and PM Awas Yojana.
To empower women, the administration has formed self-help groups (SHGs), linked them with banks, and facilitated marketing opportunities for their products. SHGs are also provided platforms at district, state, and national fairs. Additionally, facilities such as canteens, parking areas, and craft centres are being made available to strengthen their economic standing.
In line with the government’s outreach objectives, public grievance redressal is being actively pursued through “Sarkar Janata ke Dwaar” village-level camps, tehsil days, public hearings, multipurpose camps, and BDC meetings.
The Governor praised the legacy waste disposal work being done in Rudrapur. He directed the Chief Development Officer to submit five success stories and a written report detailing the implementation of flagship schemes of the Government of India.
The programme was attended by MLA Trilok Singh Cheema, former MLA Harbhajan Singh Cheema, SSP Manikant Mishra, CDO Manish Kumar, SP, Crime, Niharika Tomar, Chief Medical Officer Dr DP Singh, SDM Abhay Pratap Singh, SP Abhay Singh, and religious leaders from the Gurudwara including Baba Surendra Singh, Baba Gurjant Singh, Baba Hari Singh, Baba Lakhan Singh, and members of the Khalsa Foundation, along with several other officials.
