DEHRADUN, 7 Dec: Governor Baby Rani Maurya has instructed the State Child Welfare Council to identify needy students studying in government schools and help them.
Governor Maurya released a grant of Rs 2 lakh to the State Child Welfare Council for orphaned students studying in government schools from her discretionary fund. This information was provided by RK Sudhanshu, Secretary to the Governor.
The Governor said that the upbringing and education of orphaned children is the responsibility of society and the State Child Welfare Council has an important role to play in it. She further said the education of such children should not be affected due to paucity of funds, as every child had the right to dream big and make efforts to achieve them.
The State Child Welfare Council has also been advised to hold programmes that could provide awareness to children regarding environment protection, cleanliness, health and energy saving. Such awareness programmes would help make them better citizens, she added.
