Gov launches TB Awareness Campaign

Dehradun, 2 Oct: Governor Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd) unveiled a Public Awareness Campaign “TB Seal” organised by TB Association of Uttarakhand. On this occasion, the Governor announced a Rs 1 lakh grant for the “Seal” campaign. The Association has been organising public awareness and medical camps in remote areas against tuberculosis in the state since 2008.

The Governor said that Uttarakhand has the target to make the state TB free by 2024. Public awareness as well as people’s cooperation is needed to achieve this goal. He said that people should identify the symptoms of TB in the early stages. If treated early, the patient recovers completely. The Governor said that all the universities will make their full contribution in this public awareness campaign. He inquired about the various activities conducted by the Association and appreciated them.

Present on this occasion were Secretary General Poonam Kimothi, Treasurer GD Chokiyal, Senior Physician Dr Mahavir Singh and Dr AK Singh.
