Home Guards’ Sainik Sammelan organised

Dehradun, 2 Oct: A ‘Home Guards Sainik Sammelan’ was organised under the chairmanship of Kewal Khurana, Commandant General, Home Guards, on Saturday at the Home Guards and Civil Defence Headquarters, Nanurkheda.

The main objective of the Conference was to improve the image and morale of the Home Guards Department and its volunteers at the state level. As many as 350 Home Guards volunteers from Haridwar, Tehri and Dehradun participated in the Sainik Conference.

Commandant Khurana had a direct interaction with the volunteers. Issues discussed included facilities being provided to the Home Guards like recruitment of dependants of deceased volunteers, opening of salary accounts from various banks for accident insurance, installation of departmental monograms, etc. Kewal Khurana emphasised on integrated focus on training to bring about the required improvement in Home Guard duties, including radical changes in the modules designed for the training of personnel and volunteers.

Sports events were organised after the conference. A game of Kabaddi was held between the teams of Haridwar and Dehradun districts. The winning team of Haridwar district was given a cash prize.

In his address, the Commandant directed Home Guard volunteers to be alert on duty, follow protocols, improve their turnover and resolve their problems through the District Commandants and higher officials.
