Dehradun, 27 Jan: On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day, Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) hoisted the national flag at the state level function held at the Parade Ground, here, on Wednesday. He also took the salute at the parade.
Police personnel were also felicitated by the Governor on the occasion.
Governor’s Excellent Service Medals were presented to Preeti Priyadarshini, Commander, 31st PAC, Rudrapur, Ajay Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, STF, Mamta Bohra, Additional Superintendent of Police, Udham Singh Nagar.
Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhu, DGP Ashok Kumar, Secretary to the Governor, Dr Ranjit Kumar Sinha, senior officers of the police and administration, and other dignitaries were also present.
Contingents of the PAC, Uttarakhand Police, equestrian team, police communication unit, riot control vehicle, fire fighting teams participated in the march past.
Earlier, the Governor hoisted the National Flag at the Raj Bhawan. Expressing respect and gratitude to the freedom fighters and the framers of the Constitution, the Governor paid heartfelt tribute to them. After hoisting of the flag at Raj Bhawan, sweets were distributed among the officers and employees of Raj Bhawan.
