DEHRADUN, 27 Jul: Governor Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Wednesday virtually participated as the keynote speaker at a Joint Global Seminar organised by Amity University. The seminar was organised on the theme, “Asian Resurgence: Strategic Balance and New Geopolitical Challenges”.
Addressing the seminar, the Governor said that, in the current global context, multilateral relations, economic reforms, post-Covid pandemic impacts, the growing threat of climate change and socio-economic conditions have an important role to play. He said that, at present, the importance of the Indo-Pacific region is increasing. The emergence of the United Federation of India, USA, Japan and Australia (QUAD) Quad is a significant development.
Lt-General Singh said that mutual relations between China and America are also affecting the ASEAN countries. He also spoke on the security scenario in Japan, Ukraine war, China-India-Pakistan relations. He added that, while fighting the ill-effects of the COVID pandemic, India has strengthened international relations with multilateral relations strategy and favourable economic measures with various countries.
He also appreciated the organisers for holding a seminar on this important topic.
