“Praveshotsav-2025” held by School Education Dept at Raj Bhavan

By OUR STAFF REPORTER

Dehradun, 18 Apr: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) attended the Praveshotsav-2025 programme organised by the School Education Department at the Raj Bhavan here, today, as the Chief Guest. On this occasion, he welcomed the newly admitted school children and distributed educational materials. The Governor also inaugurated the “School Dashboard” developed by Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) for all schools in the state and provided financial assistance to 13 centres of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Residential Schools.

As per the Governor’s directive, the School Dashboard was developed by UTU to provide a centralised platform containing comprehensive data of all government schools in the state. The dashboard includes detailed information on 16,055 government schools across 13 districts. Principals, headmasters, and dashboard administrators can log in to view and update data as necessary.

At present, data from 95 blocks across 13 districts—including details of all enrolled students, teachers, and infrastructure facilities—has been uploaded on the dashboard. Principals can update this information through their log-in credentials as required.

On the occasion, the Governor said that this event marks a special moment for Uttarakhand, which is advancing hand-in-hand with new technologies. He remarked that the launch of the School Dashboard is not only a symbol of technological innovation in the state’s education system but also a significant step towards providing quality education to every child in the state. He congratulated Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Technical University, the technical experts, and all teachers involved in making the dashboard a reality, adding that it is more than just a tool—it represents a move towards a technological revolution in Uttarakhand’s education sector.

The Governor appreciated the Praveshotsav initiative of the School Education Department for raising awareness among children and parents about the importance of education. He emphasised that this joyous celebration is not just an event, but a reflection of the collective commitment to education. Every year, at the beginning of the academic session, the focus is not only on school enrolment, but on leading children towards a bright future. He added that this initiative fosters a sense of affection and emotional connection in children towards schools and stressed that it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure no child is deprived of education.

The Governor also praised the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Residential Schools, which provide education to underprivileged and marginalised children residing in hostels. He described these schools as a unique initiative that is reshaping the lives of orphans, the homeless, and children from weaker sections who are often excluded from formal education due to various circumstances. He stated that this is not merely a social responsibility, but also an emotional duty. He added that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is a symbol of courage, service, and patriotism, and these hostels, established in his name, embody those values by ensuring education, safety, and dignity for every child. The Governor called the department’s decision to upgrade these hostels to provide education up to Class 12 a visionary move.

Present at the event were Secretary to the Governor and School Education Secretary Ravinath Raman, Vice Chancellor, Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University, Prof Omkar Singh, Additional Secretary to the Governor Swati S Bhadauria, Finance Controller Dr Tripti Srivastava, and wardens, teachers, and students from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Residential Schools.
