Dehradun, 19 Dec: Orders have been issued for the purchase of local products for ceremonies and meetings held in various departments and offices of the Uttarakhand government. Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi issued this directive today.
The directive stresses that, in Uttarakhand, self-help groups, farmer producer organisations, women farmers, and single women entrepreneurs, in collaboration with various departments, produce high-quality local products. It also states that the state government aims to prioritise these products for gifts and supplies during government functions, meetings, and ceremonies. This initiative is expected to strengthen the economic condition of these groups while ensuring the availability of quality local products.
Additionally, the government had also launched the umbrella brand “House of Himalayas” last year, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Global Investors’ Summit in Dehradun. Currently, 35 products across eight categories, including millets like jhangora and amaranth and biscuits made from millets, local rajma strains, traditional red rice, gahath, kale bhatt (black Soybean), tea, oils, personal care products, and handicrafts, are marketed under this brand.
