Cong Nyaya Yatra held in Lansdowne, Chaubattakhal, Cantt & Dharampur

Garhwal Post Bureau

Dehradun, 25 Oct: As part of the Uttarakhand Nyaya Yatra being conducted across the state against the BJP government’s alleged anti-people policies, rising inflation, unemployment, corruption, deteriorating law and order situation, crimes against women and other public issues, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee today organised marches in several Assembly constituencies of the Garhwal region.

The yatra was led by Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal, MLAs Vikram Singh Negi and Lakhpat Butola in the Lansdowne and Chaubattakhal Assembly constituencies of Pauri district. Simultaneously, Congress Election Campaign Committee chairman, former Pradesh Congress president and Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh, along with former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, led the yatra in the Cantt and Dharampur Assembly constituencies of Dehradun district.

Addressing participants during the marches on the occasion, Congress leaders launched a sharp attack on the BJP government, alleging that the people of Uttarakhand had been bearing the brunt of anti-people policies for nearly nine and a half years. They claimed that unemployment, inflation, corruption, migration, crimes against women and law and order concerns have continued to worsen while the government remains focused on projecting its achievements rather than resolving public problems.

In Dehradun, Pritam Singh criticised the state of civic infrastructure, citing traffic congestion, poor roads, drinking water issues and other urban challenges. Congress leaders said the Nyaya Yatra was aimed at raising awareness on issues such as employment, social justice, women’s safety, corruption-free governance and balanced development, while taking the party’s message and public concerns directly to the people ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Ganesh Godiyal said the aspirations behind the creation of Uttarakhand have not been fulfilled and that, even after 25 years of statehood, conditions relating to education, healthcare, employment, roads and other basic facilities in the hill districts remain a matter of concern. He alleged that the migration of youth in search of employment and the growing number of deserted villages reflect the neglect of mountain regions. He further claimed that recruitment scams and paper leaks have adversely affected the future of unemployed youth, while incidents such as the Ankita Bhandari murder case have raised serious questions over women’s safety and the state’s law and order situation.

Vikram Singh Negi and Lakhpat Butola alleged that farmers, youth, women, employees, traders and ordinary citizens are facing difficulties because of the government’s policies.
