Govt removes its counsels in High Court

Dehradun, 22 Sep: The Dhami Government has expressed displeasure at the weak litigation  by the counsels appointed by the government to argue its cases and has removed Deputy Advocate General Sher Singh Adhikari, Deputy Advocate General Amit Bhatt and brief holder Siddharth Bisht with immediate effect.

Orders in this respect were issued today by the Secretary, Justice and Legal Consultation Department, Dhananjay Chaturvedi. The government has expressed displeasure with the poor presentation of cases related to crime and on bail applications of various accused.

The government is expected to begin the process of appointing new deputy advocate generals and a new brief holder, soon.  In addition, another order has also been issued by Chaturvedi under which fresh guidelines for the government advocates handing criminal cases have been issued.
