Dehradun, 20 Nov: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dham stated today that the work to rescue the workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel is going on at a fast pace.
He added that, in case the relatives of the trapped workers reach the site, the government will make arrangements for their travel, accommodation and food. Responsibility for this has been entrusted to senior officers. Apart from this, three more officers have been sent to the spot to share information including rescue work with officials of other states. All officers have been instructed to immediately start their coordination work immediately.
Rescue work is going on at war footing at all levels to rescue the 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel accident in Uttarkashi. Dhami said that along with the rescue work in the tunnel, information is being shared by establishing better coordination with the family members who are reaching the site to enquire about the well-being of the workers. For this, a police control room has also been established in Uttarkashi since day one of the incident to maintain contact and coordination with the families of workers from other states and the officials of these states. The family members are being given updated information at regular intervals from the Control Room. Even at the government level, senior IAS officer Dr Neeraj Khairwal has already been assigned the responsibility of coordinating with the team of central institutions, agencies and experts. Besides, SDM Shailendra Singh Negi has also been asked to assist Khairwal in this regard.
Apart from this, on the instructions given by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in Silkyara, yesterday, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has given orders to also include Haridwar SDM Manish Singh, DSO, Haridwar, Tejbal Singh and DPAO, Rudraprayag, Akhilesh Mishra in the coordination team. At the instructions of District Magistrate Uttarkashi, all these officers will look after food, accommodation and transportation for the families of the workers and all the important arrangements related to the rescue work.
The CM asserted that the Uttarakhand Government has made all the necessary arrangements for transportation, travel and other necessary care for the families of the workers, so that the families who come to enquire about the well-being of the workers do not face any undue inconvenience. The Chief Minister also said that the Uttarakhand government will bear the travel expenses of the families of the workers who want to come here. He directed the officials to make all the necessary arrangements for the families coming here, from mobile recharge to food, accommodation and transportation. The Chief Minister said that this work should be done with full sensitivity and promptness.
