Govt to provide platform for reverse migration: CM

Dehradun, 9 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today chaired a review meeting of the Migration Prevention Commission at the Secretariat. In the meeting, he announced that a dedicated platform will be created to share the experiences of individuals who have undertaken reverse migration in Uttarakhand. The initiative aims to inspire others to explore self-employment opportunities and contribute to the state’s economic growth.

The CM stressed that the suggestions of such individuals would be incorporated into various government schemes to enhance their effectiveness. He further observed that the active participation of women would play a crucial role in positioning Uttarakhand among the leading states in the country. This involvement, he said, would be a tribute to the passion, courage, and skills of Nari Shakti.

During the meeting, Dhami directed Secretary, Rural Development, Radhika Jha to develop a platform for sharing success stories of reverse migrants and integrate them into policy formulation. He also stressed on the importance of skill development for villagers to ensure sustainable livelihoods, urging local communities to identify employment opportunities within their regions.

Additionally, the CM stressed the need to equip women in self-help groups with professional skills to improve branding and marketing of their products, ensuring fair pricing and better market reach.

Vice Chairman of the Migration Prevention Commission, SS Negi shared that approximately 2,000 individuals have successfully undertaken reverse migration in Uttarakhand, engaging in agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism, homestays, horticulture, and other sectors and that they are generating substantial profits. Several key suggestions were also presented during the meeting.

Additionally, the CM also instructed officials to simplify schemes and ensure active participation from departments such as planning, education, tourism, and skill development to make the Commission more effective.

Present at the meeting were Vice Chairman of the Infrastructure Monitoring Council, Vishwas Dawar, Vice Chairman of Migration Prevention Commission, SS Negi, members Ramprakash Painyuli, Suresh Suyal, Dinesh Rawat, Additional Commissioner, Rural Development, Rajendra Singh Rawat, and other officials.
