Graphic Era, Civil Defence take out bike rally to promote voting

Dehradun, 14 April: The Civil Defence organisation and Graphic Era took out a bike rally on Saturday covering 38 kilometres to explain the importance of voting to the people of Doon. State Chief Electoral Officer Dr BVRC Purushottam inaugurated the rally by displaying the green flag.

Addressing the participants, Dr Purushottam said that voting is a very important democratic right. Voting and fair elections are necessary to strengthen democracy. Every voter should exercise this important right by voting. He called upon the students, teachers and civil defence wardens to cast their vote and inspire others to do so.

Dr Purushottam thanked Chief Warden of Civil Defence and Founder President of Graphic Era, Dr Kamal Ghanshala for organising this event to motivate people to vote.

Dr Kamal Ghanshala led the bike rally. Addressing the participants of the rally at the Sports Complex of the Parade Ground, he said that this rally has been taken out with the aim of motivating more people to vote.

Dr Ghanshala stated that he wished to create a record of highest turnout in the state by voting in maximum numbers in the Lok Sabha elections. Dr Ghanshala said that Civil Defence wardens and students and teachers of Graphic Era will encourage people in their areas to vote.

The rally started from Graphic Era Deemed University and went to Transport Nagar, Ballupur, Garhi Cantt, Raj Bhawan Marg, Dilaram Chowk, Behl Crossing, EC Road and reached the Parade Ground. The participants took an oath to vote. The rally concluded at the Graphic Era University. People participating in the rally carried placards promoting voting. More than six hundred students, teachers, officials and wardens participated in the rally with more than six hundred two-wheelers.

Amongst those who participated in the bike rally were Dr Subhash Gupta, Dr Devesh Pratap Singh, Dr MP Singh, DS Rawat, Dr Amal Shankar Shukla, Anil Chauhan, Dr Girish Lakheda, Dr Arvind Mohan, Subodh Pundir, Ruchira Rawat, Amar Dabral and SK Sahu.
