DEHRADUN, 13 Sep: Graphic Era Hill University organised a two-day Pahadi folk songs workshop, ‘Raibaar’.
In this workshop, the increasing neglect of Pahadi culture and folk songs was discussed.
On the first day of the workshop, Padma Shri awardee Basanti Devi told the youth that, if they want to learn Pahari music, they would have to practice. She also sang the traditional Pahari ‘Jagar’ for them.
On the second day, Padma Shri awardee Madhuri Barthwal taught the children the nuances of folk songs, dance and music.
Madhuri Barthwal shared information with the students about how folk songs are composed and sung.
Two songs, Dahadiya and Chopla, were taught to students at the workshop today.
They were also taught how to dance to folk songs.
The workshop was organised at the KP Nautiyal Auditorium of Graphic Era Hill University.
