DEHRADUN, 8 Dec: Graphic Era sets another record of making the world’s largest paper ball with waste paper weighing 500 kilograms. The students of Graphic Era deemed University and Graphic Era Hill University have claimed their nomination for the Guinness Book of world record. Till date the Pollution Control Board of America holds the world record of making the largest paper ball weighing 196 kilograms in 2014. Prior to this Graphic Era has made several world records in different fields.
This paper ball with a height of 10.4 feet and circumference of 33.8 feet is made only of waste paper and jute ropes. B.tech students of Graphic Era Deemed University, Yuvraj Joshi and Yatharth Joshi along with their team of 24 members completed this humungous task within a span of 27 days of hard work and dedication. This team of students was lead by Dr Vijay Kumar, Head of physics Department.
Chancellor Graphic Era University, Prof. Dr R.C Joshi said that this attempt is not just an achievement but also a step towards conserving our environment. He further said that with the use of waste paper and recycling paper lakhs of trees can be protected and conserved. Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Hill University Prof. Dr Sanjay Jasola said that this is indeed an inspiration for all the students of the University. He further encouraged the students to come up with news innovative ideas and set new records in their respective fields.
Director Infrastructure, Dr Subhash Gupta, said that this world record is a result of student’s hard work and dedication. Dr Gupta said that since its inception Graphic Era has played a pivotal role in promoting students and faculty members to set new records and reach new heights of success.
In the past one of the faculty members of Graphic Era had set Guinness world record for his continuous lecture of seven days and night. He further went on to set a new world record in France for his longest duration lecture. Graphic Era also holds Guinness world record for decorating the maximum number of cupcakes in shortest duration. Not just this Graphic Era also has its name in Limca book of record for the longest Indian sweet Barfi and for presenting the maximum variety of salad. Besides, this variety of Pasta and mocktails presentations has also set new World records in the past.
Yuvraj Joshi and Yatharth Joshi have also set Guinness Book of world record for creating the world’s largest effigy made out of paper mesh.
