Dehradun, 8 Jun: The Uttarakhand High Court has disposed off the public interest litigation filed in the alleged library scam case of Haridwar related to the year 2010. The PIL had alleged that, as local MLA, Kaushik had given funds for construction of a library in Haridwar but in reality the library had never been constructed or operated.
In its response, the state government had claimed through an affidavit that all the libraries in the district had been handed over to the municipal corporation for operation.
Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice RC heard the case. The affidavit was presented on behalf of the government today before the division bench of Khulbe. The government said that all the libraries had been handed over to the municipal corporation and they were already being run by it. Therefore, there was no justification for the PIL. On the basis of the affidavit, the court disposed of the public interest litigation on the basis of the fact that the library had already been established and is now being run by the local municipal corporation.
