Dehradun, 12 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered suspension of Horticulture Director, Dr HS Baweja. Sources claimed that the decision to suspend Dr Baweja has been taken in view of some allegations like increasing the purchase prices for Kiwi fruit sapling distribution, delaying turmeric-ginger seed distribution, spending more money than sanctioned for international festivals. In view of the complaints being received in this regard, Horticulture Minister, Ganesh Joshi, had earlier conducted an inquiry with the then Secretary BVRC Purushottam. After this, the file was sent to the Chief Minister, who finally ordered suspension of Dr HS Baweja.
It may be pertinent to point out here that there are some other allegations too against Baweja which he is facing with respect to his original cadre in Himachal Pradesh. In addition, there is another case pending against him in the Uttarakhand High Court, in which the date of next hearing has been fixed on 14 June.
Some sources meanwhile also claimed that he was quite close to Horticulture Minister Ganesh Joshi while some other sources also claimed that like several of his predecessors, his tenure too remained mired in allegations and he too became a victim of politics in the Horticulture Department.
