Dehradun, 14 Apr: CSIR-IIP celebrated its 60th Founding Day and Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti, here, today. K Ravi, Executive Director, BPCL, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Dr Ambedkar was given floral tribute for his great contribution to India. The SC/ST Welfare Association of the Institute elaborated on the significant contribution of Dr Ambedkar for the uplift of marginalised sections of society. It was recalled that he worked throughout his life for the downtrodden and women empowerment.
Dr Anjan Ray, Director, IIP, while welcoming the Chief Guest, elaborated on recent achievements of the institute including the biojet fuel operated flight on 26 January at the Republic Day Parade, as well as training course for South African and SARC countries.
Amar Kumar Jain, Head, Tribology & Combustion and Research Planning & Project Monitoring of the Institute, briefed about the Founding Day and the success stories of the Institute over the last 60 years. He spoke about the benefits of the recently launched PNG burner to the common man due to more than 15% improvement in thermal efficiency compared to LPG burner converted for PNG use resulting in saving of thousands of crores of rupees and mitigation of indoor pollution and green house gases. The logo of PNG burner including hologram was launched on this occasion, which will be mandatorily fixed on each PNG Stove sold in the country based on CSIR-IIP design.
K Ravi gave an eye opening presentation on “Unleashing the Human Potential”. His main focus was on believing in oneself and working with 100% dedication to achieve the target without fear for failure. He elaborated on the ways to manage stress, how to improve thought processes, how to achieve major targets through team effort, how to achieve work life balance and finally how to become a good human being. Also, after retirement, how to enjoy life which was sacrificed at work. He gave the Mantra, “A good team is a union of ordinary people doing extraordinary work.”
The Badminton Team of the Institute was facilitated for winning the 50th Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Memorial Indoor Tournament 2018.
Chief Guest K Ravi also inaugurated the Dr BR Ambedkar International Training Centre built in the IIP campus. This facility will prove to be a milestone for starting training courses of South-Asian countries. Jaswant Rai, Controller of Administration, proposed the vote of thanks.
