Dehradun, 19 Oct: An illegal Bangladeshi intruder was late last night, caught by the Doon Police during a verification drive of the people living in state. In Dehradun, a special drive is being run under the direction of SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh. The drive for verification of outsiders and suspicious persons in the state is being carried out on the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar.
According to the Doon Police, Bangladeshi citizen who had intruded into India was arrested from the Prem Nagar police station area. He was arrested while roaming in a suspicious condition in the Prem Nagar area late on Friday night. The youth was later brought to the police station by the night patrol police.
During interrogation and investigation, the Bangladeshi citizen was found without any valid documents or visa to enter India. The arrested person has been identified as Santo Biswas aged 28 years and son of Narayan Biswas and is a native of village Kachuwa under police station Abhaynagar in district Jasor division in Khulna Bangladesh. Biswas has been arrested under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act and Section 3 of the Indian Passport Act.
It may be recalled that instructions have been issued by SSP Dehradun to all subordinate police officers for an intensive verification of suspects and outsiders in their respective areas. In compliance with this, a continuous checking and verification campaign is being run in all police station areas of the district.
The Doon Police have informed that Santo Biswas was noticed roaming suspiciously in the Prem Nagar police station area. He was stopped and questioned by the patrol team. When asked for his ID, the suspect became nervous and denied having any ID. Upon strict interrogation based on suspicion, the accused revealed that he is a Bangladeshi citizen and does not have any valid documents such as a passport or visa to reside in India. Consequently, the accused was arrested under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act and Section 3 of the Indian Passport Act.
During interrogation, the accused stated that he had previously resided in Delhi, Haldwani, and Uttarkashi. The police and other investigative agencies are continuously interrogating this Bangladeshi citizen who had infiltrated India and gathering more information.
