Dehradun, 20 Dec: An attempt was being made by the land mafia to encroach the government land in Bapu Nagar Colony in Jakhan and begin illegal construction on the same. In this regard, a case was earlier filed by the Municipal Corporation in Rajpur police station. Even after that, complaints about illegal encroachment at the said place were being submitted by the local people. Today, Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar received confidential information that encroachers were engaging in constructing a building at the said site and had even constructed a roof on the building overnight.
On which the Municipal Commissioner instructed the Deputy Municipal Commissioner Gopalram Binwal to immediately go to the spot and take necessary action, at which the Deputy Municipal Commissioner reached the spot along with a Municipal Corporation team and the required police force. After which the Municipal Corporation team demolished the illegal structure and evicted the encroachment by the land mafia at the said place with the help of JCB machines. The team included Deputy Commissioner Gopal Ram Binwal, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Dayal; Tax Superintendent Rahul Kainthola; Rishipal Chaudhary and other Municipal Corporation employees in addition to a heavy police force which was also deputed there.
Not only this, it was found that a board put up by the Dehradun Nagar Nigam at another site in Bapu Nagar itself, which informed that it was a government property had also been removed by the land mafia and some columns had been erected at the site for further construction. This illegal structure was also demolished by the Municipal team. All the pillars standing there were demolished and FIR registered against the unnamed land mafia at the Rajpur Police Station.
