IMA Blood Bank holds 10th ‘Give Me Red – 2019’ Festival

DEHRADUN, 1 Oct: The IMA Blood Bank of Uttarakhand organised its 10th Festival, “Give Me Red – 2019”, to celebrate National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, today, in its premises, here. The main aim of the event is to make the people aware about the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation. The programme began with the welcome of Chief Guest BCK Mishra, Managing Director, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), and Guest of Honor Anil Kumar Singh, CEO, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), by Dr RN Singh, President, IMA Blood Bank Society of Uttarakhand. Dr Sanjay Upreti, Director, Technical & Operations, IMA Blood Bank of Uttarakhand, briefed the audience on National Voluntary Blood Donation Day. He also shared the need and importance of blood in the life of an individual and said, “Donating blood without any expectation is a vital part of the life saving process. It is necessary to celebrate this day to remove the ignorance, fear and misconceptions of the general public towards the voluntary blood donation campaign.” On the occasion, winners of Essay & Drawing competition were felicitated. It was organizsed by the School Education Development Programme Department (SEDP) of IMA Blood Bank of Uttarakhand in various schools of Dehradun. The first prize in Essay Competition was presented to Reema, Class – IX from Swami Teerth Kanya Vidyalaya, Rajpur Road; the second prize went to Nidhi Gautam, Class – IX from Kanya Gurukul, Rajpur Road; and third prize to Shivani Rawat, Class – IX from Shri Guru Nanak Girls Inter College, Premnagar, jointly with Younten Thaichen, Class – IX from Tibetan Home School, Rajpur Road. The first prize in the Drawing Competition was presented to Shruti Kumari, Class – VIII, CNI Girls Inter College, Rajpur Road; second prize to Sunaina, Class – VI of Kanya Gurukul, Rajpur Road; and the third prize to Anjali Kumari, Class – VII, Kanya Gurukul, Rajpur Road. The function ended with presentation of mementos to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr DD Choudhury, Secretary, IMA Blood Bank Society of Uttarakhand. Among those present were President of IMA Blood Bank Society of Uttarakhand Dr RN Singh, Joint Secretary Rajneesh Goyal, and President, IMA UA State Branch, and Governing Body member, Dr BS Judge, along with other Governing Body members Dr SL Gupta, Dr Harish Kohli and special invitees Dr VP Chopra, Neeraj Nagalia and many distinguished doctors and citizens of the town.
