DEHRADUN, 13 Sep: The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (ICAR-IISWC) celebrates Swatchhta fortnight on the theme “Swachhta Hi Sewa” from 11 September to 2 October. The programme, this year, began with the slogan and inception of Swachhta Hi Sewa on 11 September at its research farm in Selaqui. The scientists, officers and staff of the main office and the farm initiated a cleanliness drive at the residential complex, threshing yard and store. The Swachhta Shapath (Oath) was taken by all the participants and committed themselves to making the self, community, society, villages and city clean. Utilising home and kitchen waste for composting and the compost for the kitchen garden was emphasised by the participants at the research farm. About 75 participants were actively involved in the programme. The fortnight-long programme will highlight the importance of Swatchhta and cleanliness. The programme is being coordinated by Dr Indu Rawat, Sr Scientist, in collaboration with a team of other scientists and staff of the Institute under the guidance of Dr PR Ojasvi, Director, IISWC.
