Dehradun, 15 May: In line with government directives to promote energy conservation and prudent use of resources, Director General of Information (DG Information) Banshidhar Tiwari has instructed that every Saturday will be observed as ‘No Vehicle Day’ in the Information Department.
He has appealed to departmental officers and employees to adopt alternatives such as public transport and bicycles for commuting to the office on Saturdays. He emphasised that small individual efforts can collectively bring about significant positive change and this initiative will strengthen the national campaign for energy conservation.
Tiwari further stated that by adopting this practice, the department will set a constructive example before the society. He added that the observance of ‘No Vehicle Day’ will not only save fuel but also reduce carbon emissions, and ensure a meaningful contribution towards environmental protection.
