Dehradun, 2 Dec: The 39th Inter-School Staff Badminton Tournament for men and women was organised once again by St Thomas’ College with the finals being played, here, today. This tournament was started in the year 1986 when RV Gardner felt the need to get the staff of various schools to interact with each other as they were busy in their own schools throughout the year and hardly interacted with each other.
The Chief Guests for the evening were SK Tyagi, Principal, Colonel Brown School, Dalanwala.
The finalists in the Ladies category were Carman School, Dalanwala, and Welham Girls’ School. The match was breathtaking but finally Carman School, Dalanwala, proved its mettle and won the championship.
In the Gents’ category, it was a clash between Shri Ram Centennial School and Delhi Public School (G). Delhi Public School (G) won the tournament. Chief Guest SK Tyagi gave away the prizes and congratulated the staff and the players. He commended RV Gardner for the excellent way this tournament conducted every year. Gardner proposed the vote of thanks.
