Irrigation Minister Maharaj meets UP CM Yogi to discuss inter-state issues

Lucknow, 30 Jun: State Public Works, Tourism, Irrigation, Minor Irrigation, Panchayati Raj, Rural Works, Culture, Watershed Management and Indo-Nepal Uttarakhand River Project Minister, Satpal Maharaj, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath on Friday and discussed the assets and liabilities of the two states.
Referring to the meetings held regarding the division of responsibilities, the assets of Haridwar, Udhamsingh Nagar and Champawat districts, which were agreed upon to be transferred to the state of Uttarakhand, were requested to be issued mandates. As many as 615.836 hectares of Irrigation Department’s land and No. 348 residential buildings and No. 167 non-residential buildings in district Haridwar and 49.234 hectares of Udham Singh Nagar were selected based on joint survey. Out of the  12.457 hectares of land and 41 numbers of residential buildings and 07 numbers of non-residential buildings along with 31.889 hectares of land located in Champawat district, were requested to issue a mandate for transfer to the state of Uttarakhand.
Minister Maharaj told Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about giving 665 cusecs of water from the Ganga Canal for unirrigated areas of Haridwar district, as well as making an agreement on water sharing between the two states.
Satpal Maharaj handed over a letter to Yogi Adityanath, to get the mandate for the transfer of assets done soon, as well as the poor condition of the roads owned by Uttar Pradesh on the border of Uttarakhand state and their improvement. He said that since most of the Uttarakhand state has borders with Uttar Pradesh, the devotees come to Uttarakhand only through Uttar Pradesh, therefore, the roads owned by the Uttar Pradesh government connecting Rudrapur and Pauri districts of the state, including Aliganj-Kashipur, Thakurdwara-Kashipur, Jaspur and the roads of Dhampur and Najibabad-Kotdwar-Pauri road should be improved immediately.
