Dehradun, 2 Sep: A 5 year old child was playing in the courtyard of his house in the evening of 27 July in village Badait, block Thailisain, district Pauri Garhwal. All of a sudden, a leopard appeared and killed the child.
After the incident, the forest department tried its best to capture the man-eating leopard but all efforts proved futile. Finally the department issued the order to neutralise the maneater and hunter Joy Hukil was deputed in the village. After almost 15 days of monitoring day and night in the heavy rains, in the midst of snakes, leeches and other wild animals, Hukil was successful in identifying the maneater which he neutralised. Till now, Joy Hukil has neutralised 44 maneaters. It is important to mention that government has not provided any financial help or life insurence to a person who always puts his life at risk for the sake of the people of Uttarakhand.
