Indications of irregularities in recruitment to several depts

DEHRADUN, 2 Sep: Preliminary evidence of rigging has been found in eight more recruitment examinations conducted in past few years in Uttarakhand. At present, recruitments held in 2015 or after are being looked into by the agencies. The Government now appears to be on action mode and the BJP High Command has also reported to have taken a serious note of the irregularities and wants irregularities to stop.

At present, STF is investigating the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission’s graduate level and secretariat security guard recruitment process and cases have been registered. As many as 32 persons have already been arrested in both the question paper leak cases. Rajesh Chauhan, the owner of the tainted company RMS Technosolutions is now being considered as one of the masterminds of the question paper leak scam. Officials working in many government departments as well as private individuals have been arrested in this case. According to official sources, rigging has been detected in eight more recruitment examinations.

The agencies are reportedly preparing to file case in several such recruitments. These include recruitment of Assistant Engineers in Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd as well as UJVNL. Apart from these, irregularities are suspected in five more recruitment examinations the details of which are yet to be made public so far. Police Headquarters has been informed about them. In many cases, cases are to be filed soon.

Preliminary screening has been completed in some of the recruitments. Preparations are being made to file cases in them. In the paper leak case, chargesheet is likely to be filed not only against the accused who have gone to jail but also against the candidates. So far, the STF has confirmed in the interrogation of more than 100 candidates who had allegedly passed the examination by copying. However, some of those who were involved still failed to pass. A charge sheet will be filed against these candidates.

The case of rigging in Forest Inspector Recruitment 2019 has also surfaced during the course of the investigation. It may be recalled that an online examination was held for a total of 316 posts in the Forest Department. Sources added that this case would also be handed over to the STF soon. Rigging has also been noticed in the Junior Assistant (Judicial) Recruitment Examination. A legal opinion has been sought in the case. At the same time, the case related to guards in the forest department has been closed now on the direction of Uttarakhand High Court. This case is also allegedly related to one of the chief accused in Graduate Level recruitment scam, Hakam Singh.

It may also be recalled that the VDO Recruitment case is also being transferred to STF from the Vigilance Department. Apart from this, there have been indications of rigging in five more recruitment examinations, but the details are yet to be disclosed so far.
