Kasiga School hosts ‘Folk Vibes’ Inter School Event

Dehradun, 30 Apr: Various schools participated in Kasiga School’s Folk Vibes Inter School Event, here, on 29 April. Among these were Wynberg Allen School, Welham Girls’ School and The Asian School.

The programme commenced with the welcome of Chief Guest Priya Sharma, a Kathak teacher and founder of Ghungru Kathak Sangeet Mahavidyalay in Dehradun, the judges, and Ramesh Batta, Mrs Batta, Chandni and Mrs Rajput. The lamp lighting and statement of rules and regulations were next.

The Deputy Head of School, Arundhati Shukla, declared the competition open by wishing the participants the best.

The judges for the event were Vidisha Aggarwal, a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, educator, and a cultural advocate, along with Anupama Bhadri Kothiyal, a nationally acclaimed Kathak artist.

The dance performances emphasised diversity through forms like classical, contemporary and folk. Through the amalgamation of wonderful graphics, both, classical and western dance forms, the participants promoted an optimistic perspective towards life.

The judges addressed the audience and   appreciated the zealous efforts of the performers. It was followed by declaration of the results and prize distribution. The winners of the event were DIS Riverside Campus, followed by The Tonsbridge School and Ann Mary School in the second and third positions, respectively. The fourth position was bagged by St Jude’s School.

The programme culminated with an address by the Head of School, Dr Rajput, who declared the competition close followed by the rendition of the National Anthem by all.
