DEHRADUN, 8 Oct: The portals of the Kedarnath Shrine will be closed for the winter at 8:30 a.m. on 29 October, the day of Bhaiyadooj. The portals of the Badrinath Shrine will close on 17 November at 5:13 a.m. After the closure of the Kedarnath Shrine, the ‘Travelling Deity’ of the temple will arrive at Rampur for a night halt. On 30 October, it will stay the night at Guptkashi. It will arrive at the Omkareshwar Temple, its winter abode, on 31 October. The portals of the ‘Third Kedar’, Tungnath Temple, will be closed on 6 November at 11:30 a.m. The ‘Second Kedar’, Madhmaheshwar Temple will close for the winter on 21 November. The decision on the closures was taken in traditional manner at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath today. According to Dr Harish Gaur, Media-In-Charge of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee disclosed that the announcement to this effect was made at 9:39 a.m. after astrological combinations were studied. Decisions were also taken on the reception of the Travelling Deity at the Omkareshwar Temple. Present on the occasion were BKTC Vice-Chairman Ashok Khatri, CEO BD Singh, Executive Officer NP Jamloki, priests and other distinguished persons.
