Dehradun, 16 May: Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress President Karan Mahra stated today that the law and order situation in Uttarakhand has collapsed with the government failing to manage. As a result, the situation in Uttarakhand is very critical and murders were happening every day in the state which exposed the law and order situation.
Mahra also alleged that there is total mismanagement of the Char Dham Yatra. He claimed that the Yatra is in total chaos with every government agency failing to handle the situation. Referring to the recent murder of BJP’s Mandal General Secretary from Shantipuri in connection with the mining mafia, he claimed that this showed the mafia is getting very active and fearless and even indulging in serious crimes including murders. He said that this activity of the mining mafia is being highlighted constantly by the Congress. He said, when even BJP leaders are not safe under BJP rule, the plight of the common person could easily be imagined.
Murders are now happening on regular basis, he said, referring to the kiling of a woman in Patel Nagar, Dehradun, and another murder today in Rishikesh. The Congress leader alleged that, even as law and order had collapsed, the Chief Minister and his government machinery are busy in Champawat to ensure victory of the CM in the assembly by-poll to be held on 31 May.
Karan Mahra called upon the Chief Minister to pay special attention to the deteriorating law and order situation state and strictly control the mining mafia.
Mahra said that, today, the whole country is looking at the Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra, so the government needs to act with seriousness and promptness so that the image of Uttarakhand is not tarnished and the message of a safe Uttarakhand could be communicated across the whole world.
