Dehradun, 28 Nov: The doctors of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital have conducted successful surgery on a woman suffering from continuous urine leakage with soiling of clothes for the last 25 years. She is now perfectly healthy after the operation and has been discharged from the hospital.
Sushila Devi, a resident of village Kamera, Gauchar, District Chamoli, was suffering from urine related disorder for the last 25 years. This led to a very difficult life as she was unable to go anywhere. She had to change her clothes many times every day. She went to a few doctors but all of them failed to treat her. On 29 October, her daughter Poonam Negi brought her to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital for treatment.
Dr Vimal Kumar Dixit (Urologist) conducted the initial tests. He suggested the patient undergo surgery. On 30 October, he operated on the patient for the disorder faced by her due to VVF disease. The urinary tract was repaired in this surgery, which lasted for 3 hours. Dr Vivek Vijjan (Urologist) was also present during the surgery.
In some females, such a disorder is witnessed after delivery or after an operation of the uterus. The condition is termed Vesico Vaginal Fistula. The danger of infection arises due to frequent leakage of urine. Such patients must immediately contact the Uro-Surgeon. This problem can be completely treated by surgery.
This is illustrative of the difficulties women of the hills face due to lack of quality medical facilities. People in the villages must be well aware about such diseases. The women must talk to doctors without any hesitation.
