Dehradun, 28 Feb: Amidst heavy rainfall and snowfall, a massive avalanche near Mana village, close to Badrinath, has trapped several workers under debris.

State Minister of Tourism, Religious Affairs, Culture, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Irrigation, Public Works, and Watershed Management, Satpal Maharaj has expressed deep concern and assured that the government is making every possible effort to rescue all trapped workers safely.

Cabinet Minister Maharaj stated that, on Friday morning, a large ice formation broke off near Mana village on the India-China border, trapping 57 workers. Acting swiftly, the government has rescued 15 workers so far, while search operations continue for the remaining 42 trapped workers. He assured that all possible measures are being taken to bring them to safety. Army, ITBP, NDRF, and SDRF teams are actively engaged in rescue operations.

Additionally, he has instructed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to clear debris from roads affected by landslides due to rain and restore traffic connectivity immediately.
