Mussoorie, 5 Mar: The Mahila Congress, under the leadership of Mussoorie Unit President Jasbir Kaur, celebrated Women’s Day and Holi Milan here with enthusiasm. At a programme organised at the Gurudwara Auditorium in Mussoorie, women played Holi with flowers and gulal.
On this occasion, women in traditional costumes danced to folk songs, which enthralled everyone. They wished each other on Holi and Women’s Day by applying colour and gulal.
On this occasion, women office-bearers of Shubh Mangalam Sanstha were also felicitated by the Mahila Congress for getting underprivileged young women married. The Sanstha actively participates in social works, whose benefits are being given to poor people, and it organises marriages of underprivileged couples every year according to customs.
Jasbir Kaur said that, this year, Women’s Day and Holi are on the same day, which everyone would celebrate with great pomp.
She reminded that, at present, women are active in every field. She said that women should not consider themselves weak and should continue to fight for their rights and make their own place in the society. Renu Agarwal and her team, Laxmi Kala, Savita, Sunita Semwal, Sunita Rawat and Poonam were felicitated on the occasion. Sonia Rubina Anjum, Aarti Agarwal, Sarita Panwar, Manisha Kharola, Jashoda Sharma, Bharosi Rawat, Sulochana, Anari Devi, Parvati, Sangeeta and others were present on this occasion.
