DEHRADUN, 7 Dec: Major General R Prem Raj, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, took over charge as General Officer Commanding, Uttarakhand Sub Area, here, today.
He succeeds Major General Sanjeev Khatri. On assuming the Command of Uttarakhand Sub Area, the General Officer laid a wreath at Shaurya Sthal and paid homage to the valiant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
Major General R Prem Raj is an alumnus of the Sainik School, Kazhakottam, National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He was commissioned into the 6 Mechanised Infantry (1 Garhwal Rifles) on 15 December, 1990. He has commanded a Mechanised Battalion, an Independent Armoured Brigade and a Strike RAPID Division on the Western Front.
An avid reader with interest in history, philosophy, culture and leadership, he has also tenanted important staff and instructional assignments at Strategic Forces Command, Headquarters Southern Command and the Mechanised Infantry Centre & School, Ahmednagar.
The General Officer is a proud recipient of the Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal and has been awarded COAS Commendations twice for his outstanding contributions.
Absorbing and leveraging modern technology for efficient management of the Army’s infrastructure, logistics and services as well as welfare of veterans and veer naris in coordination with the State Administration are his priorities.
