Uttaranchal Press Club holds discussion on Hindi Journalism Day

By Our Staff Reporter

Dehradun, 30 May: On the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day, today, a seminar and felicitation ceremony was organised by the Uttaranchal Press Club. Director General of Information, Banshidhar Tiwari also participated as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the members and the gathering, Tiwari greeted everyone on Hindi Journalism Day. He reminded that the meaning of the name of the first Hindi newspaper, ‘Udant Martand’, is the rising sun and that, in the true sense, this rising sun worked hard to show a new path at the time of the independence struggle. This path was both political and social in nature. He said that whatever mediums of journalism exist at present, the social aspect now appears to be missing. Tiwari said there is a need to bring social awareness once again into the mainstream of discussion in the media. Today, somewhere, the society is also getting away from the core human values and this is the reason that instead of being people-centric, it is turning objects-loving. In comparison to the past, lack of patience is also being seen in people now.

He said that there are many challenges before today’s journalism and journalists. While writing or covering news, one should take utmost care of balance.

On this occasion, senior journalists Jay Singh Rawat, Anupam Trivedi and Sanjeev Kandwal also presented their views prominently on the changing nature of journalism.

Press Club President Ajay Rana expressed his gratitude to the Director General of Information and other guests.

Journalists were also felicitated by the Uttaranchal Press Club, including Ravindra Nath Kaushik. On this occasion, all the office bearers and the members of the Press Club Executive were also present.
