Dehradun, 28 Jan: In connection with the birthday of Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi (31 January), a sweater distribution programme was organized today at Government Inter College, Kishanpur, under “Seva Saptah”, a week-long initiative dedicated to public service.
The programme was organised by Sridev Suman Nagar Mandal, in which Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi participated.
On this occasion, Ganesh Joshi and Neha Joshi distributed sweaters to the students of Government Inter College, Kishanpur, in his Mussoorie Assembly constituency. In addition, sports kits were distributed to the students with CSR support from Union Bank of India.
During the programme, information was shared about the academic and sports achievements of the school. It was stated that, over the past seven years, the student strength of the school has increased from 340 to 640, and the school has now been included among the top 50 schools in the state. Additionally, 26 students of the school have been selected for the National Games Hockey (Women’s) competition. Last year, student Tamanna secured an outstanding position in the High School examination, while student Abhishek ranked among the top 25 in Uttarakhand, bringing pride to the school and the region.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi also felicitated talented students who won a bronze medal at the hockey competition held in Jhansi last year. The students also extended advance birthday greetings to the Cabinet Minister.
Addressing the gathering, Joshi congratulated the teachers for the doubling of the school’s student strength and appreciated their dedication. He said that this growth reflects the positive changes taking place in the education sector and indicates increasing trust of parents in government schools. He urged students to give equal importance to moral and character education along with physical education so that they can become responsible and value-based citizens. The Cabinet Minister also assured support for providing dresses for cultural programmes at the school. He added that the state government is continuously working to provide quality education and ensure the availability of necessary resources in schools so that students can study in a better environment.
The programme was attended by BJP’s Neha Joshi, Mandal President Pradeep Rawat, Niranjan Dobhal, Chief Manager Union Bank Navin Semwal, Principal Dhoom Singh Negi, Councillor Meenakshi Nautiyal, Poonam Nautiyal, along with school students and teachers.
