Dehradun, 6 Jul: On his first visit to the Mussoorie Assembly constituency after being re-elected as the State President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt was warmly welcomed and felicitated by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi with a floral bouquet and memento.
The event also marked the birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, a staunch nationalist thinker and visionary leader. Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt paid heartfelt tribute to Dr Mookerjee by garlanding his portrait. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of a large number of BJP office-bearers, workers, public representatives, and local citizens, all of whom extended a warm welcome to Bhatt and wished him a successful tenure.
Addressing the gathering at the welcome programme held at Salawala, New Cantt Road, here, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt expressed deep gratitude to the party’s central leadership. He said, “I will discharge my responsibilities with full dedication, sincerity, and commitment. I will continue to work at every level with our party workers to make the organisation stronger and more dynamic.”
Paying tribute to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Bhatt said that his role in significant national issues like Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal was historic. “The slogan ‘One Nation, One Constitution’ was not just a political idea—it reflected the spirit of national unity and sovereignty, which was embraced wholeheartedly by the people of India,” he said. Bhatt added that the BJP has grown into the world’s largest political party because of the vision, sacrifices, and dedication of great leaders like Dr Mookerjee. “BJP is not merely a political organisation—it represents national spirit, unity, and harmony. When this spirit reflects in the party’s work, it earns the unwavering trust of the people,” he said, expressing confidence that BJP in Uttarakhand will become even stronger through the hard work and unity of its workers.
In his address, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi noted that, perhaps, for the first time in history, no one else filed a nomination for the post of State President—reflecting the immense trust reposed in Bhatt by the central leadership and party workers alike. He said that Bhatt’s dedication, hard work, and sacrifice towards the organisation earned him this responsibility a second time, which is a testimony to his capability, honesty, and leadership.
Minister Joshi also paid tribute to Dr Mookerjee, stating that his entire life was dedicated to the unity, integrity, and pride of the nation. “Dr Mookerjee never compromised on his principles and fought for national interest till his last breath. His slogan—‘One Nation, One Constitution, One Flag, One Prime Minister’—was a guiding force, and he even sacrificed his life to integrate Kashmir into the Indian mainstream. Today, the Central Government has fulfilled his vision by abrogating Article 370,” Joshi said. He urged everyone to imbibe the values of Dr Mookerjee and contribute to building a strong, self-reliant India.
During the event, BJP Yuva Morcha workers led by Anshul Chawla presented a ceremonial sword to Mahendra Bhatt as a mark of honour. Prominent attendees included Metropolitan President Siddharth Agarwal, Minister of State Kailash Pant, BJYM National Vice President Neha Joshi, Mandal President Pradeep Rawat, Rajeev Gurung, Metropolitan General Secretary Surendra Rana, Sandhya Thapa, Niranjan Dobhal, RS Parihar, Poonam Nautiyal, along with municipal councillors, party officials, and local citizens.
