Dehradun, 6 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a grand celebration held on Sunday in Clement Town here, today, on the occasion of the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. On this occasion, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all citizens of the country and the Tibetan community.
The Chief Minister made two key announcements during the event: Widening of the Buddha Temple Road, and construction of a tin shed at the Tibetan cremation ground.
In his address, Chief Minister Dhami said, “His Holiness the Dalai Lama has shown the path of peace, non-violence, and compassion to the entire world.” He noted that the Dalai Lama’s teachings are even more relevant today, as the world faces numerous challenges. Quoting the spiritual leader, the Chief Minister added, “My religion is compassion” — a thought that truly makes the Dalai Lama a global spiritual guru.
He further stated that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has always offered love, respect, and protection to the Tibetan community, and that the state government is committed to safeguarding their interests while also supporting their cultural, educational, and social development.
Praying for the long life and good health of His Holiness, the Chief Minister said, “May the Dalai Lama continue to guide future generations with his invaluable teachings and wisdom.”
Also present on the occasion were Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Uttarakhand Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams, former Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar, Sangay Sonam Palden, Dr Tsawang Phuntsok, Tenzing Choephel, Mahesh Pandey, Sardar Indrapal Kohli, Rajesh Mittal, and members of the Tibetan community.
