Dehradun, 14 May: Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi participated today in an employment fair organised for dependants of ex-servicemen at the IRDT Auditorium, Survey Chowk, here. The employment fair was sponsored through the Soldier Welfare Department and ITDA and was specifically organised for dependants of ex-servicemen who had received computer and technical training.

During the programme, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi distributed appointment letters to selected candidates and also honoured representatives of private companies participating in the event. A total of 21 private companies took part in the employment fair.

On this occasion, Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the employment fair organised jointly by the Soldier Welfare Department and ITDA was not merely an event, but a strong initiative toward securing a brighter future for youth. He stated that Uttarakhand is not only a Devbhoomi but also a Veerbhoomi, where every family is connected with patriotism, discipline, and sacrifice.

Minister Joshi said that ex-servicemen and war widows have made invaluable contributions to the nation’s security, and it is now the government’s responsibility to empower their families and dependants through education, skill development, and employment opportunities. He added that the state government is implementing several welfare schemes for ex-servicemen and their dependants, including educational grants, scholarships, medical assistance, skill development training, and rehabilitation programmes.

The minister added that, over the past two years, joint efforts by the Soldier Welfare Department and ITDA have provided computer and technical training to 628 dependants of ex-servicemen, while 227 individuals are currently undergoing training. He also mentioned that, during the employment fair organised in January 2024, employment opportunities were provided to 22 dependants of ex-servicemen.

Ganesh Joshi expressed confidence that the employment fair would not only provide job opportunities but also contribute significantly towards realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Skill India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, as well as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s vision of an empowered and self-reliant Uttarakhand.

The minister emphasised that everyone should ensure their participation in nation-building efforts. Referring to the West Asia crisis and the resulting global energy concerns, he also appealed to people to conserve fuel such as petrol and diesel and promote energy conservation.

Among those present on the occasion were Soldiers’ Welfare Director Shyam Singh, Deputy Director Colonel VP Bhatt, Wing Commander Nidhi Badhani, Additional Director, ITDA, Teerath Pal, and other officials.
