Minister lauds Patanjali’s phenomenal work in Yoga, Ayurveda

HARIDWAR, 2 Mar: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan described Patanjali as the world solution center for the coming times. Whether it is the field of medicine or education, Patanjali Institute will dominate the entire world. Addressing th inaugural on the annual day of the University of Patanjali, the minister said,  “today Patanjali is not just an institution, but an idea representing the movement of India and Indianness. Patanjali is playing an important role in nation-building”.  He lauded Yoga guru Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna for the work being done in Yoga and Ayurveda and called it a mass movement.  On this occasion, the Chancellor of the University Swami Ramdev and Vice-Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna honoured the Union Minister with ‘Abhinandan Patra Samman’.

Pradhan described the annual function ‘Abhyudaya’ of Patanjali University as a symbol of India’s knowledge tradition and said that Patanjali Institute is doing great service to the country with an innovative coordination of ancient traditions of knowledge and modernity. Describing Yoga and Ayurveda as the need of the world, he lauded the efforts of Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna for reviving this great tradition of India. He said that when Yoga was looked upon as practices of elders and sages, Yogrishi Swami Ramdev worked to give it the form of a mass movement.  Today, there is hardly any village or town in the country where Yoga has not reached. It is the result of Patanjali’s tireless efforts that UNESCO has also formally inscribed Yoga in the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.  He also gave importance to Yoga and Ayurveda in dealing with the epidemic and as an effective resistance measure during Covid-19.

The Union Education Minister, while explaining the importance of the National Education Policy, said that Patanjali is making an important contribution in highlighting Indian education and Indian knowledge tradition by taking the command of the Indian Education Board in its hands.

Addressing the students, he said that choosing Patanjali University for education is like choosing India. At the same time, in the concept of developed India, the youth were asked to realize the dream of a healthy and developed India with factors like their health and personality development, in which Patanjali Institute is making an important contribution.

In the programme, Swami Ramdev in the capacity of Chancellor, said that our ancestors have shaped the character of the whole world, on the strength of which the world is moving forward. Patanjali University is moving forward in accordance with the same resolution, he said. He expressed hope that Patanjali University will expand as a global university and it will become the best university in the world, work is being done with dynamism with this resolution.  He also pointed that when the whole world will follow us, then in true sense there will be a world-conquering journey of Sanatan Dharma.

The Vice-Chancellor of Patanjali University Acharya Balkrishna, while delivering the welcome address, explained in detail the activities of the university and its associate institute ‘Patanjali Research Foundation’.

Uttarakhand Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat attended the program as a special guest.  He appreciated the work being done by Patanjali University and its associate institute ‘Patanjali Research Foundation’ in the field of research and development.

In the programme, the winners of sports competitions under ‘Abhyudaya’ were awarded medals. Students of Patanjali University gave a wonderful presentation of cultural programs.

In the programme, Executive Chairman of Indian Education Board NP Singh, Dean of PAU and Coordinator of Annual Festival Sadhvi Devpriya, Vice Chancellor of the University Mayank Kumar Agarwal, Director of Distance Education Satyendra Mittal, Registrar Alok Kumar Singh, Dean of Students Swami Arshadev and all the administrative officers of the University, Deans, Heads of Departments, Principal of Patanjali Ayurveda College Anil Kumar and other dignitaries were present.
