Minister Pradeep Batra reviews preparations for Kanwar Yatra

Dehradun, 6 Jul: State Cabinet Minister Pradeep Batra held a meeting with Public Works Department officials regarding preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra and dealing with possible problems during the rainy season in the Haridwar region.
The minister directed the officials to complete the pending works of the Public Works Department in the Haridwar region on time and said that all the ongoing works should be completed before the upcoming Kanwar Yatra. He directed speeding up the condition of roads, repair and cleanliness of drains and all other basic works.

The Minister urged officials to expedite the construction of a drain on the road connecting the Pantdeep Parking lot at Har Ki Pauri. He also asked NHAI to expedite the ongoing work on the Saharanpur-Roorkee-Haridwar Expressway (SPUR), which connects the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to Haridwar.
The Minister stated that the goal is to make the Kanwar Yatra simple, accessible, and successful. He noted that, approximately, 40 to 50 million devotees undertake the Kanwar Yatra. He directed officials to ensure that pilgrims do not face any difficulties.
The Minister stated that, in accordance with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s vision of a pothole-free Uttarakhand, officials have been directed to complete the repair work on all roads in the Haridwar area on time. He also ordered officials to develop a plan to provide organised parking facilities for Kanwar pilgrims.
On this occasion, Additional Secretary, PWD, Mahavir Singh Chauhan, HOD RC Sharma, Chief Engineer Dayanand and other departmental officers were among those present.
