Minister Satpal Maharaj inaugurates Hostel at Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan University

Pokhra (Pauri), 18 Dec: On the second day of his visit to his assembly constituency, Satpal Maharaj, the Minister for Tourism, Public Works, Irrigation, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Watershed Management, Religious Affairs, and Culture, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various development plans worth Rs 5.17 crore in the Pokhra block, which includes projects related to roads, irrigation, education, and the Panchayat Department.

On Wednesday, as part of his tour of the Pokhra development block, Maharaj inaugurated the hostel building at Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan University and also laid the foundation stone for various development works in Ubott, related to roads, irrigation, education, and panchayat department, worth more than Rs 5.17 crore. The university also hosted a cultural programme on the occasion.

In his address, Maharaj highlighted the transformative impact of several government initiatives, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programmes such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Skill India Mission, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, PM Mudra Yojana, Amrit Yojana, Digital India Mission, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, and Atmanirbhar Bharat, which have revolutionised India. He claimed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand continues to develop rapidly, with ongoing projects like the Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line and a significant increase in tourism.

Maharaj emphasised that, in the Chowbattakhal constituency, there is continuous progress in various sectors such as roads, panchayat buildings, irrigation schemes, education, drinking water, and employment. During the programme, he laid the foundation stone for several projects, including a Rs 64.21 lakh landslide mitigation project in Tilkholi, a Rs 64.80 lakh flood protection project from Machhlad river in Kimgadi, and the blacktopping and strengthening of the Sanglakoti-Bhedgaon-Gudinda motor road costing Rs 168.37 lakh. Additionally, he inaugurated the construction of various school facilities like a library room and classrooms at GIC Saknolikhal and GHSH Palidhar with a total investment of Rs 47.19 lakh, Rs 24.75 lakh, and Rs 24.75 lakh, respectively. He also inaugurated four newly built Panchayat buildings in Beendadhar, Sediadhar, Pokhra, and Beena Malli, which were constructed at a cost of Rs40 lakh.

This event saw the presence of Chancellor of Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan University, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Pro-Chancellor Sanjeev Tyagi, Dr Gagnesh Tyagi, Vice Chancellor Prof NK Sinha, Registrar Dr Tikam Singh, CRC Director Prof Sanjay, Administrative Officer Preeti Devi, BJP Pokhra Mandal President Pramusharan Budakoti, District Minister Rajpal Rawat, District Vice President Narendra Dandriyal, Former Mandal President Satyaraj Negi, former Pramukh Surendra Singh Rawat, BKT Council Member Pushkar Joshi, former Pramukh Rameshwari, and several departmental officers.
