Minister Subodh Uniyal inaugurates 6th Bhimsen Sangeet Samaroh

Dehradun, 20 Aug: Senior Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal inaugurated Sixth Bhimsen Sangeet Samaroh at IRDT Auditorium here today. This annual event is held in memory of legendry Indian Classical vocalist Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and is organised by Kalashray Sanstha.
The artists who performed on the occasion included Dr Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, among the leading vocalists of Indian Classical Music, Pandit Ronu Majumdar, a top flute player of Indian classical music, Pandit Mithilesh Jha, a Tabla player of great repute, leading Harmonium player Paromita Mukherjee, a leading Indian Classical band called Sarvatra and young painter Arjun Yadav.
While Dr Ashwini Bhide Deshpande performed Raga Triveni and Jhula on the occasion, Pandit Ronu Majumdar presented flute recital in Raga Megh and Raga Ramsadasi Malhar, in tune with the monsoon weather. The performance included Alaap and Bandish in the Ragas mentioned. Pandit Mithilesh Jha accompanied the two artists on Tabla while Paromita Mukherjee lent support through Harmonium recital. The Sarvatra Classical Band presented Kabir’s folk fusion.
It was an enthralling performance by all the artists who were also honoured on the occasion by the Chief Guest Subodh Uniyal and Guests of Honour Sanjeev Chopra (IAS), former director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), senior Congress leader Suryakant Dhasmana and Vivek Attre, GM, UJVNL with Swradhiraj Samman.
A souvenir was also released on the occasion by the guests and the artists.
The president of the Kalashray Sanstha Himanshu Darmora, observed that such eminent artists of classical music coming from time to time to Dehradun, Uttarakhand will be beneficial for the music lovers and music students here. This is the purpose of Kalashraya. Ram Kumar Chakraborty, Shlok Gera (Secretary Kalashray), Anjali Thapa  as members had lent full support in successful organisation of the programme.
The musical evening was co-sponsored amongst others by Uttarakhand Tourism, ONGC, UJVNL, Graphic Era University, Union Bank and Spink Holidays.
