DEHRADUN, 10 Jul: Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi expressed gratitude to Chief Minister TS Rawat by presenting him a bouquet of flowers at the latter’s official residence, here, today. He thanked the CM for the recent Cabinet decision to relax construction norms in Mussoorie, permitting buildings to be 12 metres in height. Joshi had led a delegation of Mussoorie residents, recently, that met the CM and requested to provide this relaxation. The MLA said that the people of the hill town were pleased with the decision that had met a long pending demand. The MLA reminded that the municipal area of Mussoorie and 13 revenue villages in the proximity were in the ‘freeze zone’, where construction is permitted for permanent residents only in 100 square metres of area, and 150 square metres in the undeveloped areas. No master plan is in force in this area. Joshi said that the relaxation would help in the development of necessary infrastructure, small houses, etc. It would also give a boost to tourism, reducing the burden of tourists in the core zone. He also requested that the one-time settlement plan also be approved by the Cabinet.
