‘Seemant Lok Kee Kahaniyaan’ launched at DLRC

DEHRADUN, 16 Feb: The latest collection of stories by Mukesh Nautiyal, “Seemant Lok Ki Kahaniyaan”, was formally launched by Doon Library and Research Centre DLRC at its auditorium on Saturday. After the launch, litterateurs present also discussed these stories. This collection, published by Kavyansh Prakashan. contains 24 stories written by Mukesh Nautiyal in the last three decades.
On this occasion, senior writer Jiten Thakur said that Mukesh Nautiyal’s stories arise from the beliefs and traditions of the mountainous region. In these stories, he creates an illusory and unique world by including all the images of the Himalayas and carries forward the tradition of Vidyasagar Nautiyal, Shailesh Matiyani, Shekhar Joshi and Shivani.
Editor of “Uttaranchal” magazine, Somwari Lal Uniyal ‘Pradeep’ said that, in the fast-changing times, old beliefs, faith and values are changing rapidly in society. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of writers, poets and litterateurs to record the times in their creations, so that the coming generations can identify with their roots.
Cultural activist and writer Dr Nand Kishore Hatwal described Mukesh Nautiyal as a storyteller who expresses popular beliefs and fears of society with credibility. “While reading his stories, we are actually having a direct interaction with the Himalayan society,” he declared.
Room to Read state manager Pushpalata Rawat discussed the stories of Mukesh Nautiyal which are being taught in various courses.
Chandrashekhar Tewari, Programme Associate of DLRC, while presenting the review of the book said that it is a wonderful collection of stories related to the past. These stories of the storyteller are full of human sensitivities and nature conservation, which not only increase the curiosity of children but also provide answers to their questions.
Author Mukesh Nautiyal, while explaining his writing process, said that the incidents and characters in his stories actually arise from his own environment. He added that extensive study is necessary for effective writing.
Prabodh Uniyal of Kavyansh Prakashan said that this book is a necessary read for the young. Such stories most needed today to develop a literary culture.
The programme was conducted by writer Bina Benjwal. On this occasion, Sanjay Kothiyal, Mohan Chauhan, Manohar Panwar ‘Manu’, Prem Sahil, Vijay Bhatt, Dr Atul Sharma, Ramakant Benjwal, Yogendra Singh Negi, Alok Sareen, Sundar Singh Bisht along with many writers, writers, book lovers and library readers of the city were among those present.
