Mussoorie, 21 Oct: The three-day district-level athletics meet concluded on Tuesday at the Guru Ram Rai Inter College Sports Ground in Bhauwala, where the Mussoorie city region performed brilliantly and won the Overall Championship trophy. Students from all educational areas of Dehradun district participated in the district-level event. The students from the Mussoorie region displayed such discipline, enthusiasm, and hard work that the sports ground reverberated with thunderous applause.

The biggest highlight of the meet was Isha, a student of Sanatan Dharma Inter College, Mussoorie, who captured everyone’s attention by winning five individual gold medals. Her prowess in the running and field events surpassed her rival regions. Kavita Negi said, “Isha’s hard work and dedication are commendable. We are all proud of her.”

Students from other schools in the Mussoorie area also performed well, with Rakesh from Ramadevi Inter College winning a gold medal in the track event. Sonia from Nirmala Inter College also won gold in her event. Suhana from St Lawrence High School, Mansi from Ghanananda Mussoorie, and Srishti from Mussoorie Girls Inter College also brought pride to the region by winning gold medals in their respective categories. Physical education teachers from the Mussoorie area also played a significant role in this success. These teachers played a crucial role in training, guiding, and fostering team spirit among the students.

Present on the occasion were Naresh Nautiyal from Ghanananda School, Shailendra Singh Bisht from Ramadevi Inter College, Samuel Chandra from St Lawrence High School, Kavita Negi from Sanatan Dharma Inter College, Manju Thapa from Nirmala Inter College, Sangeeta, Piyush, and Natasha from Mussoorie Girls Inter College. Teacher Shailendra Bisht said that this victory is not just about medals, but about teamwork and dedication. It’s worth noting that the Mussoorie region finished second in this competition last year, and this year’s victory proves that with hard work and consistent practice, any goal can be achieved. By winning this year’s overall trophy, Mussoorie has emerged as an inspiration not only for its region but for the entire district. The organising committee and school administrations congratulated the students and teachers on this achievement.
