Mussoorie, 23 Jun: Keeping in mind the increasing tourist crowd and traffic jams in Mussoorie, Kotwal Santosh Kunwar held a meeting with local citizens and public representatives, here, on Monday. The purpose of this meeting was to strengthen the law and order in Mussoorie, improve the traffic system, and find a permanent solution to the problem of traffic jams.
During the meeting, Kotwal Santosh Kunwar made it clear that violation of traffic rules in the city would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said that Mussoorie is an international level tourist destination, and it is the responsibility of all to maintain its image. The police administration would work to ensure compliance with the rules. The Kotwal urged the local people to give their suggestions on improving traffic management. He said that local people are aware of the ground reality, so their suggestions will help in improving the traffic system effectively.
It was also stated at the meeting that, in case of an excessive crowd of tourists, traffic is diverted from the connecting roads, so that there is no jam in the main city. Especially during weekends and holidays, the police divert the traffic towards various alternative routes. The Kotwal also clarified that strict action will be taken against those who violate traffic rules, such as speeding, wrong parking and illegal stunts. He said that the police working in public interest needs the cooperation of the public, but those who break the rules will not be spared under any circumstances.
Kunwar also assured that such meetings will be held regularly in future, so that coordination is maintained between the general public and the police and Mussoorie can be maintained as a safe and organised tourist destination. SSI Krishna Kumar Singh was also present on this occasion.
